The picture is from the internet and I believe it shows texture in many ways. It shows texture because it captures the tunnel of the color green even though this picture doesn’t have many colors. I also believe it seems like this picture was taken inside a through a neon tunnel going through outer space. I chose this picture because it caught my attention, because of the it looks very trippy. I also chose it because this is one of the kinds of photography I like to view/see. I hope I am able to capture something like this after. I think this a successful photograph because I think you need know how to work a camera and its different settings in order to take these kinds of images.

What I learned about Exposure

The Aperture controls the area over which light can enter your camera. Shutter speed controls the duration of the exposure. ISO controls the sensitivity of your camera’s sensor to a given amount of light. The camera has so many modes like Program (P), Aperture Priority (Av), Shutter Priority (Tv), Manual (M) and Bulb (B) mode. Av, Tv, and M are often called “creative modes” or “auto exposure (AE) modes.”

White Balance

White balance is something most photographers aren’t aware, but it has its uses. What it means in the simplest from is, the reason why we adjust white balance is to get the colors in your image as accurate as possible. Sometimes when you take an image, you might notice it might come out either somewhat orange or blue due to the images temperature. What white balance would do is kind of gets rid of those colors in the image so that the actual original colors don’t have a brighter or darker tint to it. Now luckily for us, most cameras have automatic modes to help you with the white balancing mode, so you don’t necessary have to do it manually. These setting modes are : AUTO, TUNGSTEN, FLUORESCENT, DAYLIGHT/SUNNY, CLOUDY, FLASH, and SHADE all help you adjust and use white balance in your images. The range in different temperatures ranges from the very cool light of blue sky through to the very warm light of a candle. unless the temperature of the light is very extreme a white sheet of paper will generally look white to us.

I chose this picture because it has great lighting on the side of her face. The way the sun hits her face gives the portrait life. She is posed, she looks so peaceful.

Jpeg VS RAW

Jpeg, and raw are two different ways of having picture files, they are both able to be used on a camera, but they have many differences when it comes down to editing, and size of the file.

A Jpeg file is an image saved in a compressed graphic format standardized. Its name originates from the Photographic Experts Group. It can support 24-bit resolution color images. It become compressed by lossy compression. Lossy compression greatly reduces the image resolution if it is used to much. JPEG files are images created using a lossy compression algorithm, which actually destroys some data contained within the original image file. A JPEG file also contains metadata that describes the contents of its file like the color space, color profile, and image dimension information.

A RAW file is the most common file format for uncompressed images captured by digital cameras and Scanners. Raw files are generally large in file size so that it contains minimally processed image data with lossless quality. It can take the direct image without altering it and keeping it as accurate as possible. It would be able to take the direct image without alternating the photos and keeping it as accurate as possible. It can finally store the most details of captured images.

Camera Modes

Automatic mode-Automatic mode sets everything up for you, your shutter speed, ISO, aperture etc.

Portrait Mode-Portrait mode automatically sets you a large aperture for a shallow depth of field.

Macro Mode-Marco mode lets you take a picture from up close without going out of focus.

Landscape Mode-Landscape mode automatically sets you a small aperture for a large depth of field.

Sports mode-Sports mode lets you take a picture of moving objects in time for it to not be blurry.

Night Mode-Night mode lets you shoot in dark places and lets you capture the details in the background, but it also uses flash to capture the objects in the foreground.

Movie Mode-Movie mode lets you capture moving images.

Aperture Priority Mode-Aperture priority mode lets you choose your aperture but your camera chooses everything else for you to get a well balanced exposure.

Shutter Priority Mode-Shutter priority mode is similar to Aperture priority mode but you choose the shutter speed instead and your camera chooses everything else.

Program Mode-Program mode is similar to full auto mode but you have a bit more control over it.

Fully Manual Mode-Fully manual mode gives you control over everything.

Telephoto lenses is good for sports, nature, and wildlife.

Depth of Field

Mostly when a photographer talks about depth of field of an image is they’re referring to how much of the picture they choose to have in focus. By focusing how much depth of field to have in your image you will have the viewer’s attention in a place. Depth of field is controlled by changing the aperture setting on your camera. The first rule in depth of field is the larger the aperture, the shallower you depth of field will be. There are times when you’ll want to ensure a deep depth of field.

When to use a wide or narrow aperture is first as wide apertures let in more light than narrow ones. A portrait photographer would typically use a wide aperture of f/1.8 so that all the focus can be placed on their subject at the expense of details in the background. You might want to use a wider aperture when you want to isolate specific subjects from their background

There are a lot of things that can help capture motion blur. First, you can slow down your shutter speed. When you slow it down, it’s easier for the camera to capture the blur. The slower the subject is, the more you have to slow down the speed. Something else you can do is to stabilize the camera. For motion, you need one of two things, motion from your camera, or subject motion. Since the subject is already moving, you can stabilize the camera. A faster shutter speed gets you a sharper picture. While a slower shutter speed will get you a motion blurred picture. And if you are in a darker room and you want to get a sharp picture, then you need to turn your ISO higher. For a slower shutter speed, you will need a tripod because without one, your picture will come out incredibly blurred.

I choose this picture because I felt it stood out better than the others. It has a nice clear shadow that we can all make out what caused or created the shadow. The picture itself shows no color other than black and white. I think that made the shadows look like its consuming the picture all together. The calming and reminiscing picture the shadows created shows a lion staring off into the distance. Making it looked like he is posing for the photo. it. Just another reason why I think this picture stood out better than others, It truly is a eye catcher.

DNG (Digital Negative Format) used as a main raw file, also as an alternative for native raw format

I think that this photograph looks natural. I like how this piece looks, it catches my eye because I like the pattern. His work overall is very nice to look at because of the patterns.

Photography is very important because it documents history, art, and, much much more. I think Photography is a big part of art, It does everything from document events to capturing beautiful moments. Photography is a great medium of art and history I think it is very important as it documents historical events like 911, pearl harbor, the indoctrination of presidents and much much more. Photography is important because it allows people to see the world from different perspectives. Thanks to photography, you can admire the most diverse scenarios and situations captured in a frozen moment. Photography is an excellent hobby because it’s a lot of fun, and you can start at any age. You are not pressured or challenged by anyone. Your level doesn’t matter. In photography, you always keep learning. One day you can learn about composition. The day after, you discover the importance of lighting. Perfecting the use of your camera is a never-ending process. You’ll make new friends. Photography helps you connect with like-minded people.

You can get a kit with a flash head and a power pack, or you can get a monolight kit. The flash head contains flash tubes that emit light once supplied with high voltages. Assymetric power packs allow the user to vary the power supply to different flash heads. Monolights, on the other hand, are compact substitutes for a power pack/flash head combinations. Their size limits their power, but they are often desired for their portability.

Monolights come with the controls built directly into the light itself. So if you have multiple monolights, you’ll need to control and adjust the settings of each one separately. Head/power pack kits also offer faster flash durations than monolights, which can really come in handy when you want to freeze action during fast motion. They also have faster recycle times. Whichever your choose, keep in mind that the most durable equipment is made mainly of metal rather than plastic. f your flash head does not come with a zoom reflector, you can find many types of wide or narrow reflectors sold as accessories.

Reflecting umbrellas produce a diffused and soft light due to the larger size of the reflecting surface. They are mounted in such a way that the strobe light is actually facing away from the subject or model. Light flies from the strobe head hitting the inside of the umbrella and then bounces back towards the subject. Silver-lined umbrellas are the most efficient and can focus light more narrowly than the other types. White umbrellas offer a wider spread of reflected light, and gold umbrellas produce a warm tone.

My favorite teacher is Mr. Skinner, he is one of favorite teachers here. I really liked him as a teacher because whenever I would ask him a question he would give me an answer. He was also very patient with me when many teachers aren’t.

Cultural Identity Article

Your cultural identity is where you come from. When most people ask you that question, they are not trying to incite an existential crisis; they just want to understand what your life with a camera looks like. Do you take pictures of elephants, icebergs, or weddings? For the sake of conversation, they would like to have some idea as to what you do. It is innocent enough, but it can create a bit of internal turmoil, or at least it did for me.

When someone asks us about who we consider ourselves to be, it can create a range of emotions. For me, the question pointed to a gap in my professional career. I could not exactly put my finger on what I was doing. For a few years, I used to say I did ‘documentary photography,’ but the term never sat well with me. It never seemed to get at the root of my work, nor did it shed light on my approach, which I’ve always seen as different from documentary work because it is not objective. I am personally fascinated by people’s points of view and try to express my projects from my point of view, not an objective one.

Painting with Light

This caught my eye because of how clear this image is. The cars in the background that makes it look like it was one of there’s. The bridge is real clear as well in the background. One of the cars went fast enough to male the tail lights have an effect.

Silhouetting is a type of photography that people use to add glamour and intensity to many everyday photographs – this can include still life, vacation pictures and even family photographs. Handled properly, the technique will inject excitement and drama into standard photographs. The technique is pretty amazing and very simple to do. A silhouette is an overall form of a subject, black shapes are the subjects which stands out against a brightly lit background. Like a black and white image. It leads for the audience to have their own interoperation of the story line because emotion can not be shown. For these images it important that the photographer has distraction free back ground, which i s why many silhouettes are taken against the sky. Silhouetting photography an amazing photography style that is used by many.
